This Cookie Policy explains how Kotipathi (operated by PikLig Developers) uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage and pixels) on our website and within our application. It complements our Privacy Policy and PDPA Compliance Statement and is intended to assist compliance with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022.

3. Categories of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary

Required for the website and the application to function, including secure transport, session continuity, language preference, theme preference, and abuse prevention. These cannot be switched off from within the application.

• Language preference — stores your selected language (English / Sinhala / Tamil).
• Theme preference — remembers your light / dark / auto theme choice.
• Firebase App Check — uses reCAPTCHA v3 to protect our backend from abuse and bots.

3.2 Analytics and Performance

Help us understand how the service is used so we can improve reliability and experience. These are non-essential and are used only where permitted by applicable law.

• Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics — aggregated usage data, such as pages visited and events triggered.
• Firebase Performance Monitoring — trace data for page load and network performance.

3.3 Advertising

Used to display relevant advertisements and to measure the effectiveness of those advertisements. These are non-essential.

• Google AdSense — contextual and, where enabled, personalised advertisements.

4. How to Control Cookies

You can manage cookies in your browser. Common controls:

• Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
• Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
• Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data.

Disabling strictly necessary cookies may reset remembered preferences (such as your chosen language or theme) on each visit, but it does not restrict access to any feature of the Services. Use of the Services is not conditional on accepting any cookie. You can opt out of certain third-party advertising cookies at Google Ads Settings.

5. Cross-Border Transfers

Cookie-related data from analytics, performance monitoring, App Check, and advertising may be processed outside Sri Lanka by Google and other service providers. See Section 7 of our PDPA Compliance Statement for information about cross-border data flows under §26 of the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022.
